Google is one of those technologies that has become so deeply connected with everyday life that many people do not even think about how much they depend on it. 1. When Did Google Start?

The story began at Stanford University in the mid-1990s.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford and began working on a search project. Their early search engine was called BackRub. The idea was different from simply counting keywords on a webpage: they examined relationships between webpages and links to estimate the importance of pages.

The internet already had search engines before Google.

A webpage could be considered more important when other important webpages linked to it.

AI has certainly created competition.
